The project involved the alteration of two existing office floors within York Court building, which adjoins the main Madame Tussauds building, to create a space to house the new Star Wars exhibition.

The works comprised of the removal of existing concrete floors to create the new double height exhibition space, the installation of a new cantilevered steel link bridge to form a walkway between the new and existing exhibitions and the removal of an existing glass barrel roof structure above Cafe Nero (remained live throughout project) and infill with lightweight steel structure to create additional floor area.

Challenges included working in a live building, interfaces with live exhibition space which is open 7 days a week, sensitive neighbours and structurally modifying an existing building, leading to a lot of unknown and discovery items throughout the project.
