Working in conjunction with HCA, we have recently completed the refurbishment and upgrade of the existing medical diagnostic day case facility within the Tower 42 Estate.  This was a phased refurbishment, working in occupied space and to the strict rules set out by the Tower 42 building management including their permit to work systems and security arrangements.

The works included the installation of a new 7,200 kg 3T MRI scanner to enable high resolution images with decreased scan times. Liaison with Tower 42 management and consultants was critical as the machine had to be manoeuvred through the old Nat West building structure – which exists below level one in 30 and 31 Old Broad Street.

Temporary propping was also installed in the basement plant room of Tower 42 to take the weight of the scanner and crane outriggers.

Works also included the relocation of the X-Ray department, ultrasound suite and the refurbishment of consultation rooms, common areas and reception.
