Collins were tasked with creating HCA’s 65,000sq ft flagship clinic across levels 4, 5 and 6 of London’s iconic sky scraper, The Shard.

The £11million fit out involved  the creation 77 consulting rooms, 12 treatment rooms and ancillary space spanning a number of different departments including Physiotherapy,  Women’s Health, Colorectal, Urology, Orthopaedics and Paediatrics.  A ‘state of the art’ imaging department was created incorporating 2 MRI suites, CT Scanner, mammography and Ultrasound rooms and 2 radiography rooms including fluoroscopy.

The delivery of the 2 MRI scanners took place at 2am on a Sunday morning. With MRI scanners weighing approximately 5.5 and 7.5 tonne respectively, these were crane lifted from St Thomas Street, over London Bridge Station and through the side of the building at 5th floor level where the curtain walling had been removed. Working alongside HCA and AECOM, the 40 week programme completed December 2015.
