NorthStandard appoints Collins Construction at 16–18 Monument Street

Collins Construction has been appointed by NorthStandard to deliver the refurbishment of 16–18 Monument Street, a landmark City building beside one of London's most recognised heritage assets.

This technically complex project will transform the existing building through a series of major structural interventions, including a new rooftop extension, within one of London's most sensitive historic settings.

Working directly beside The Monument presents unique challenges, from constrained logistics and sensitive structural alterations to preserving historic character while delivering a contemporary workplace.

The team has been tasked with reinstating a number of the building's existing features, including its recognisable cupola and the replication of its distinctive stone façade, ensuring its original character is carefully restored while the asset is repositioned for its next chapter.

Our appointment spans from early enabling works through to completion. The lower and mid-level floors will be delivered as Cat B workspace, creating bright, open floorplates ready for occupation.

The upper floors will provide a more refined Cat B environment, including a considered reception, collaborative spaces and breakout areas designed to support a more flexible, modern way of working. At Level 6, the scheme will offer a distinctive experience, with a terrace, kitchen and event space overlooking the City.

Work is already underway and, upon completion, the building will offer premium workspace in one of the City's most prominent settings, delivering a fitting new chapter for this landmark building.
