Collins regularly takes a look back at our Health and Safety performance for the previous year, as well as looking ahead and prioritising for the forthcoming year.

Health and Safety is fundamentally about staff, operatives and visitors coming onto Collins sites and the surrounding areas, undertaking their works in a safe and enjoyable environment before going home to their families at the close of day. 2017 was another successful year for Collins as we once again achieved a calendar year without a reportable incident.

We are proud to have been nominated and successful in 5 awards from CCS and RoSPA, taking our total to date to 13. Most recently, our project for University of London at Senate House was nominated for a CCS National Site Award, with winners being announced in February.

We know how important it is to lead by example and H&S within the organisation is embedded from the board level down, with our staff ultimately being our success story for all awards won in their demonstration of managing clean, safe and compliant sites.

Our H&S department undertake weekly audits and carried out 528 site inspections and 202 scaffold inspections in 2017. The ongoing monitoring of our internal processes has contributed to Collins Considerate Constructors Scheme annual average score increasing to 39.3, putting us well above the industry average.
